What is New Media?

You can consider me a skeptic. I am one of the people that does not believe in New Media, thinking of it as being a similar buzz word as Web 2.0. Already the word itself has a very broad meaning. But this is part of the reason I consider this course of great interest to me. Since this course covers a lot of theoretical foundations and aspects of attempting to describe New Media and what it is made of, or what it can be in years time, it is a great starting point and gives me all the tools needed to finally make up my mind. Ending up a convert or no?
